About this property

Welcome to Hotelito Desconocido

Hotelito Desconocido is a unique hotel located in 48460 Jalisco, Mexico, rated 4.2 based on 41 reviews. Set in a tranquil natural environment, it offers guests an opportunity to appreciate the local landscape and wildlife, including notable birdwatching. Its setting, described as a paradise by some visitors, provides a peaceful retreat well-suited for those interested in sightseeing, recreation, and exploring the surrounding area.

The hotel has gained recognition for its friendly and professional staff, with guests frequently praising the warm service and the authentic experience offered. However, recent reviews indicate some operational challenges; there are mentions of temporary closure and fiscal irregularities, which have affected its current status. This mixed feedback suggests prospective visitors should check the hotel's availability and conditions before planning a stay.

Facilities include a world-class infinity pool set right on the beach, designed to provide a safe alternative to the strong and dangerous beach waters. Guests are advised to be cautious with the local sea conditions, as strong rip tides make swimming unsafe in the shallow areas. Accessibility to the hotel can be complicated, so using the hotel-arranged transport is recommended.

The property appeals primarily to visitors looking for immersion in nature and a quiet environment away from busy tourist hubs. Its rating indicates it is generally well-regarded, but with some reservations in recent times. The location is convenient for those arriving via Licenciado Gustavo Díaz Ordaz International Airport, offering a balance of seclusion and accessibility for travelers.

Really friendly people running this place, but they default more into a service role than a peer, overall this place is a heaven I didn't deserve, but was lucky enough to experience nonetheless. Truly, this is a rare and unique place on this planet. Pretty difficult to find, I highly recommend using the hotel's own form of transit. The waves crash in at an angle on the beach here, creating a very strong, consistent rip tide, so the water on the beach is an absolute no-go (in the shallow, wade-able portions, the water is continuously saturated with sand, and farther out, where the water is more clear, you will simply drown. Michael Phelps would drown. Don't try it, they have a world-class infinity pool right on the beach for you, anyway!). This place is on the expensive side, but if you can afford it, highly worth it, so unique and beautiful. The birdwatching is beyond my imagination. Living for 4 days in a castle-yurt literally over the lagoon was *pretty* awesome!
